The Akkad Center for Economic and Financial Studies seeks to enhance opportunities for women and men to benefit from economic growth. Many researchers consider that women have a greater ability to succeed because of their gender, but this is only possible if the woman has a higher education or a good job. This means that a woman must receive equal treatment with a man if she is to contribute.
Financial independence allows women to control economic resources and opportunities. Access to these services is often restricted by systemic gender discrimination and systemic gender inequality. Women’s economic participation and empowerment provide tremendous benefits to women, but these achievements benefit economies by helping to fight poverty and promote growth. Women’s economic empowerment is a critical component of achieving the Millennium Development Goals.
